Hi Denis,

Just an update on VP founds.

In x10 under the Geocache folder is a file named 'Magellan_Geocache_Extention.gpx'. This file hold all the units found records if you have never deleted it. Then when you upload new found caches to GC.com via VP (Using the 'logs.txt' file) the file is read and all matching caches in VP will be mark as found (ticked).

This feature is helpful after you have downloaded a new PQs that remove all the found ticks but as soon as you upload new found caches to GC.com via VP the file is read again and all found caches are reset to ticked again.

Graham.

I keep my found caches on Microsoft's Streets & Trips.
I found a GSAK macro to load caching icons to Streets & Trips.--PushPinsupdated macro 😛
Some screenshots;

Eastern Mass

Centeral Mass

All geocaches in Massachusetts (as of Nov. 2010, I haven't updated it recently) are loaded on those maps.
The little Homer Simpsons are my DNF icon. 😛

I used to drive around with the laptop running S&T in the truck, but with the 710 I just let the GPSr guide me! 😉

Yes, you have to load your logs through VP, on multiple PCs if you use several PCs.
VP only gets the 'found' logs from the GPSr.
Just don't clear your logs file until you load them where you want the checked caches to show.

Not a problem for me, I don't keep found caches on VP anyway.

If you load a Found PQ it will not update the cache statue. So the only way appears to be to load log files and if your running VP on multifle PC that is a pain.

To follow up here's a screenshot of a few caches I loaded from the 710.
I found all of them, the ones with check marks I loaded my logs to GC.com from VP.
The ones without checks I loaded after I had cleared the 710 of the logs file.

OK, I just tried it on mine.
I loaded three caches I found in the last few days to VP from the 710, they do not show a check.
Then I loaded all my logs from the 710 to VP, it asked if I wanted to publish to GC.com, I said yes (I've only done this as a test once before).
That put 60 field notes on GC.com!
The three caches that did not show a check now do have a check beside them!
Apparently the found check-marks only appears on the computer you loaded your logs to VP on.

Good, something new for me to learn. 🙂

1 - Are the operating systems the same on both computers?

2 - Did you load the found caches from the GPSr to the laptop but not the desktop?

3 - The laptop is haunted and is reading your mind! :silly:

1 - Yes.

2 - Probably. I was using the laptop more while getting the GPS setup and installation done, but I don't see how the same program interprets the same data differently on 2 different machines ... ;

3 - Likely - it's my wife's laptop, she probably put an evil hex on the thing ... lol !

I noticed something weird the other day... the Laptop shows any caches I've Found as having a checkmark next to the container. On my Desktop computer, running the same version of VP, they don't appear this way ...

Any one else seeing this ?
