I gave up syncing VP with a GPSr a long time ago, it just caused too many problems.
As far as the 'Address Book' on the 710 or VP it's nearly useless, you can't import a contact list or address book from anything.
It will only work if you manually create an address in it and it won't sync properly, either to or from a GPSr, so you have to create the address in both VP and GPSr.
Re-writing the BAK files in the 710 every time is a good way to screw up the files, and is a big waist of time for just a few addresses.

Until I can import a contact list (like from my e-mail account) to VP and transfer it to my 710 it's a waist of my time trying to use the address book in VP or 710.

At the risk of being redundant, VP is a good place to keep tracks and maps but otherwise it's a nearly useless program that is not worth what it costs to install. (I know it's free, that's my point!)

When in trouble or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout

In the beginning of my VP use, I was able to edit my address book in VP and sync it to my 710. At some point this changed and my edits would be lost during the reboot of the GPS. It appears the .BAK file must match the address book file or the system will revert back to the .BAK file (erasing any edits made during your VP session).

I've gotten around this by making the VP edits... uploading the file... and manually copying over the .BAK file with the new changes (prior to reboot), but I'd rather not have to do this. Any thoughts?
