Another option for a list of related points of interest is Waymarking.
Groundspeak created Waymarking for people to create a POI list in over 1000 user-created waymark categories that can be downloaded in GPX, LOC and KML files.

If you have never seen Waymarking it might be worth a look.

Here's a link - http://www.waymarking.com/

I don't know what type of file this would be but on the micro SD card I found this empty file;

.
Somebody that knows programing may know how to create a custom POI list.

Don't know if that would be the correct wording but I would like to know if anyone else knows if there is something along the lines of what Sockeye has done for maps but in the POI department. I got to poking around my x710 last night and saw a listing for RUNES in the POI search area. I know of a couple areas around me in a couple state parks that house some historic RUNES that I'd LOVE to be able to share with a community and in turn would love to be able to enjoy others entries in their areas. I think I would be cool if such a data house with user created POI's were to come to light where we could input those coords & a brief historical (or lengthy if one so chooses) talk about them. Just grab a file of the area you might be visiting and drop in into your unit and explore!!!
