It's in the center of the arrow.

I must be simple, I still can't figure out what the arrow covers.
Could somebody explain, in small words, after noting the scale and 'distance to end' in these screen shots what exactly is covered by the arrow?

I guess: center. It would look different on rotation in the other case.

I agree the arrow is relatively large. It would be nice to have some more options. So with respect to that arrow. If you are geocaching, is your target at the very point or in the center of the arrow image???

They're not all that secret, just at an address that isn't linked outside yet.
Like the new Communicator S2 software that's being tested by someone:

Allory,
How do you always manage to find these secret updates?
Hopefully this means the anxiously anticipated 710 update with the compass fix is just around the corner.

The "Smart arrow" basically just changes color in relation to your direction of travel, relative to the Goto destination you have entered (red is the wrong way, green is correct....) That's for the touchscreen units, maybe it'll be different on the downsized machines.

Let us know.

No way to tell if it will help yet, but the next update for the 310 (1.15 - http://support.magellangps.com.....itemid=305) offers a 'New Smart Arrow'

I would vote for options for whatever anyone wants as long as I have the choice to keep mine just as it is now. 😛

I don't know about a circle on the screen, how bright, what color, how thick are the lines of it so you can see it?
I don't like having the compass on the map let alone a 'circle' that would just be a compass anyway.
That circle will be there, cluttering up the map no matter what you do.
In other words, be careful what you wish for. 😉

I have "real" USGS topo maps loaded on mine and it covers a lot. Sure...nothing is covered when you use Magellan's crappy built-in topos that have no detail...but when I need to see something precise I can't with the jumbo arrow. Even when I am using it under normal conditions the size of the arrow looks like something fro a kid's toy and annoys the he// outa me. This is a simple graphic that can be changed easily by Magellan if they would just do it!

I also have "real" topos on my 710, that screenshot was of my neighborhood, not a lot of topo detail here, it's as flat as a pancake.
If you look at the scale of the screenshot you would see the the arrow covers about ten feet of the map.
If you are standing where the arrow is what detail do you need that you can't see?
So here's a couple more quick shots of my neighborhood.

Yes when I'm zoomed way out it covers a lot of the map but so what, just zoom in!

I would prefer they fixed the compass issues before they screw things up by modifying something that works fine now.

What, exactly, is the arrow covering in this screenshot?

Why an arrow,

What I would like to have is something like this:

The radius of the circle should have the size of the current accuracy in detail zoom levels.

Add my name to the list. With old eyes and glasses it is to large and as Caotix points out the location should be the pointy end not the middle.

Graham.

... lol ! no sarcasm there I hope !!!

But I DO like the idea of it being ghosted, rather than solid colour. Size choices would be nice too.

And it would be nice if the point of the arrow is the point where I'm actually be. Not the middle of the arrow
