Repairing a 310. Why we do not accept the 110 and 310 units for software repair.

The reason we do not repair the 110 or 310 is because they do not accept Memory Cards.

We have the repair software for the 510 - 610 and 710 units.  Even if a customer accidentally erased all the files we can reload all the partitions and format the unit using our special software.

A recent case we encountered was a customer who was using the eXmod1_0 files and erase all the files including the internal  files.  When this happened he had lost his USB connection capability and the screen showed a special error.

Our special software can handle this problem and we can do a total repair.

In the case of a 310, as an example, some users accidentally erase the files in these units while connected using their USB data cables.

This can be corrected PROVIDING THE USER HAS NOT ACCIDENTALLY FORMATTED THE UNIT.

We have uploaded the files for this repair to our website at http://www.jungleghost.com/Exp.....DUMPED.zip

Now we have written this advice to users of any of the New Explorist X10's.

The advice is: WHEN YOU FIRST RECEIVE YOUR UNIT .. ATTACH THE UNIT USING YOUR USB CABLE TO THE PC AND MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF ALL THE INTERNAL FILES.

There are many reasons to do this but most of all remember that the maps are serial coded to your GPS and if you loose the map files you will loose your maps.  You will need to contact Magellan and ask them to make up a new map(s) with your GPS serial number.

However, on a 110 or 310 if you accidentally erase all the files and DO NOT FORMAT THE GPS you should be able to attach your GPS and copy your backup files to the unit and recover the GPS.

This assumes that the problem was due to your files being corrupted (as in a bad firmware upgrade) or a corrupt Waypoint or Geocache and not a component problem.
