Customers write in and ask us how to repair their GC, 110, and 310 that have jammed. The symptom is that the unit turns on and then freezes at the radar symbol. Try this solution.

You will need to have a DUMP file for the unit.   Look below for some of our files.

Step 1) Connect your Explorist GC, 110, or 310 to your PC.  DO NOT PUT ANY BATTERIES INTO THE UNIT.

Step 2) While holding the joystick in the UP POSITION, press and hold the MENU and POWER buttons until connects to the PC.   You should see a connection to PC on the GC 110, and 310 screens.

Step 3) If your unit shows a white screen with a menu and Mass Storage option. Press the joystick to confirm.

On the PC, you will see a Virtual Drive named Magellan.  Select Format > Start > OK.

Step 4) Look at the Virtual File and complete the following steps

Warning: Make sure that you make a copy of the MAP directory. This includes all the programs in your virtual file.  This file has the matching GPS Serial Number to the MAP.

Make sure that you run a Windows file scan to find bad files and lost clusters and repair them.  Windows does this automatically in the run.

DO NOT AT ANY TIME FORMAT THE GPS AS YOU WILL DESTROY IT.

Make sure that you disassemble the zip file and ONLY COPY THE INDIVIDUAL program over to your GPS.

You will see that the unzipped file does not have MAP folder. You must use the MAP folder you saved as this folder has the matching serial number to your GPS to work and supporting files. Touch, etc.

Below are your dump files:

ExploristGC_Dumped_v2.15.zip

Explorist_110_Dumped_v1.62.zip

Explorist_310_Dumped_v1.62.zip

Disclaimer:  Gelb Organization, L.L.C. or its subsidiary; Wheras the Companies will not be responsible of liabile for lost work, damaging or mishandling of the GPS, or guarantee that these repairs will work.

These solutions are some that we have utilized in the past.  There is always the possibility that the internal components in these products have failed.  There is no software solution to repair of the product in this situation.
