  1. You will need a 4GB+ SDHC Memory Card.  Please format the card before proceeding.
  2. Download the zip program for the GPS that you wish to repair.
  3. Unzip the download and place all programs on the Memory card.
  4. Put Fresh Batteries into the GPS, insert the prepared Memory Card and start the unit.
  5. This is the sequence of events when your Magellan and the SD card start.
  6. First, the Magellan Splash Screen Appears.
  7. This is followed by a 30 – 40 second interval in which an “Hour Glass” appears on the screen. During this time, the software is analyzing your GPS.
  8. Upon completing the analysis, the file manager will appear. To exit the file manager and continue on to activate the Magellan GPS software just close the file manager. You can close the file manager by depressing the box with the “X” at the top right part of the screen.
  9. The starting file is a FileManager Program.    You will see the entire system both the SDHC chip (which is called the SDMMC directory) and the Magellan system scrolled in two columns.
  10. You first task is to go to each column and unhide the programs in both sides.  If you do not do this then your transfers will be missing the hidden files.
  11. The program has two columns and both look the same but they are not to be considered identical. THE RIGHT COLUMN IS THE DESTINATION COLUMN. This column is the TARGET for your FILE COPY command.   If you click on the FILE MENU in the top task bar a COPY box will open up.   This means that you will be copying from the left column to the right column.
  12. For example; to transfer a copy of uncorrupted files you would go from your left to the clean (empty) right column.   Similarly to clean out the corrupt files you would delete the necessary files from the right side which is your GPS side.
  13. HINT: If in any of your reloading of folders you receive an OVERWRITE command .. say “YES” to each OVERWRITE REQUEST.
  14. Then you would go to the top task bar and click on COPY.
  15. OK .. remember that the SDMMC folder is the left side of the display.  Your GPS is the HDD right side.
  16. The COPY command would report that it is about to copy SDMMC to the /HDD folder or its might say SDMMC to the /.   The '/'  would occur if the first copy was to an empty (clean) HDD GPS .. like after you clean it out of all you corrupt files.
  17. You would click OK to proceed.
  18. How do you tell your left column is your dumped unzipped files.  It is called the SDMMC and when you open it using your Stylus, the left would read the SDMMC folder and when you opened it up, you will see five folders; namely, Gelb .. this folder holds all your keyboard files, MAP_DATA.  Obviously the right column would read HDD or just '/' if empty.
  19. Now you are ready to transfer the good files in the SDMMC to the empty HDD side using your COPY command.
  20. By the way, I use the rubber tip of my pencil as my stylus.
  21. Just highlight the copies you wish to move to the right column and using your stylus sweep it to the right side.   The program will confirm that you are going from SDMMC to /HDD or /
  22. [Note: Be Patient .. it takes about one to two minutes to copy form the SDMMC chip to the HDD.]
  23. When you are finished transfering your files. Just click on the Black “X” box in the top right of the screen to continue to starting the Magellan Software.
  25. Then Please SHUT DOWN THE GPS.
  26. After completing the transfer of the old folder or folders exit the File Manager and allow the GPS to automatically restart.
  27. The restart procedure will automatically correct the faults in the files.
  28. If the failure was caused by an aborted firmware version update then use the MENU>>VIEW>>SETTINGS>>MEMORY and do a Clear Memory.
