No doubt all members know that if you press on the map screen you can get to the four corner menu screen.

Then if you touch the lower left corner you get to another screen that contains a tools icon on the bottom center of the screen.

If you touch the tools icon you are directed to another menu with a SETTINGS menu on top.

Now if you RAPIDLY touch the word TOOLS (THREE TIMES) on this screen you will be directed to a Hidden Menu. (Need to tap the title of the screen (TOOLS .. THREE TIMES)

This menu has many uses for us in the Repair Business but for you the most important menu is the SIRFStar III menu.

So here is how it works ..

If you ever decide to go back a version or two+ by reinstalling an old version (for example; 6.5X to 6.3X or Further Back) you should consider resetting the SIRFSTAR chip.

Do accomplish this just enter the SIRFStar menu and do a factory reset. Normal values are 23/8/0 but DO NOT CHANGE THESE VALUES instead let your Factory Reset do the job of selecting the correct values. If your unit states "NO" Upgrading .. all is fine.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many users call us and say that with a new firmware installation the tracking feature of the unit tends to be slower or even worst "lose and recover the Satellites" every few seconds. In other words the Satellite goes from "FIXED" to "TRACKING" and back to "FIXED" again. In many cases this is due to the chip needing to be reset.

If you find this happening you might wish to do the factory reset as described above to reinitialize your SIRF chip.
