ATV Users Please Note:
The GPS you have purchased is very sensitive to the type of Power Source you use.  It is made to accept both Primary (AA) and Secondary (Rechargeable) Batteries.  Many of our users intend to use this GPS on their ATV machines.  If so, you should be aware that the PROPER POWER SUPPLY MUST BE a Snowmobile ATV AC-DC Power Supply manufactured by Magellan for this Magellan Explorist GPS. Please note that we emphasize made by Magellan and not Garmin or any other manufacturer.  Use of an improper Power Supply will most likely permanently damage the sensitive power supply of your Magellan Explorist 510 - 610 or 710 GPS.

Avoid destroying your expensive GPS with a stray AC/DC Voltage Spike.  Use the Hyperkin External Battery Pack.

To avoid this problem, we in Search, Rescue and Recovery use a HYPERKIN 10,000mAh External Battery Pack. For convenience, your USB data cable can be used to charge the Battery.  This unit is attached to the GPS using the USB data cable.  Use of the special Battery Pack will allow your GPS to function as follows.   The Hyperkin Battery fully charged has approximately 35 - 40 hours, and after it depletes the internal AA batteries in the GPS takes over.  All totally, it is common to have 40++ hours of power in the field.  We also recommend that you keep the GPS and batteries, like your Cell Phone, inside the jacket for maximum battery usage in sub degree temperatures.
