Yes, it works perfectly. It has the size of 240 MB you still have enough free memory, even with the original basemap.

If you want to use maps > 450 MB, I would recommend to exchange the basemap to the small version, as you can run into errors if the free space gets to low. (e.g caches, pictures, logfiles)

Hello,
Do you have any tutorial about how to make maps using scans? Can you post some more info about that?
Thanks a lot,
Hugo

We have such maps for the whole world. Unfortunately they are in Russian.
These maps are more suited to boaters and pilots. For hiking, we buy paper maps in the store and scan in nearest blueprint.

Yes, I'd like to prepare a map by myself and I appreciate your help but I haven't scanner.
Anyway, I have some maps obtained from scanning of trekking papers.
Do you think these file could be useful to obtain personal maps?

I tried to attach here a sample but ... sorry.

If you have a paper map and a scanner, you can prepare and load this map to your eXplorist. It's a little difficult, but I can help you.
Here in Ukraine there are no good maps for Magellan. We make them yourself from paper topographic maps and atlases.

Yes, you can keep them on VP, then transfer them back and forth from VP and the 310 when ever you want to.
Right now I have over 25 maps on VP, I transfer them to my GPS whenever I need one.

Plus I always have copies as back-ups stored on a thumb drive.
Make sure you have a copy of your base map, you can not get a new one if you lose it.

OK, tks.
So I proceed to make a back-up of my base map, delete it to free more space and then load lite base map and topo map of my area via VP.
But once my maps are in the PC, I will be able to load and remove them from my 310 each time I need?

Welcome to the forum.
Yes the Maps4Me topos will work on the 310 and they will be very good for trekking.
Sockeye at Maps4Me has made a small base map for the 310.
You will have to change the base map to a small base map on the 310 to have enough memory for the detail maps.
Go here on this forum - Small base map on this forum to learn how.

I would recommend downloading Vantage Point from Magellan, it's a free mapping program that can store maps, tracks, waypoints etc and can transfer them from VP to the 310.

Hello everybody.
I'm new on this forum and I have no experience with Magellan products neither with GPS universe. I'm having a look in previous discussions to grow my knowledge, so please forgive me my errors.
My intention is to use my new 310 for trekking so I'd like to load more specific maps than World Edition (concerning the italian region).
Are the topo maps the most indicate for trekking?
Does the TOSMITALIA from Maps4Me work in eXplorist 310?
How can I obtain other maps?

Thanks in advance and best regards.
