Ok, I got it to work now - thanks all.
The "transfer maps" button was not available before - not sure why - maybe just the operator (me).
It did make a difference to tranfer via VP rather than just drag and drop direct into the GPS MAP folder using windows. May have been a corrupt couple files, but I used the same file which I downloaded earlier when I had the successful transfer via VP.
I've got more maps to do now so I'll play around a bit and report what I find out
EDIT:
So I loaded some more maps, both via VP and directly via winows - both methods are working now. Go figure

Can you advise on how to load from vantage point to the GPS? I added the map to vantage point, and I am able to transfer waypoints and tracks with the sync function but I can't see where / how to transfer maps.
With the GPSr connected, click on the map (red arrow on picture) to get the transfer maps screen.
When in trouble or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout

I just purchased an explorist 310, and downloaded a couple maps from MAgic maps. I copied them onto my 310, and they show up on the map list, but they are "greyed out" and not selectable. Only the world maps which are a type .mgi are selectable.
The maps I downloaded are:
092F06-GREAT_CENTRAL_LAKE-CV.imi
092F06-GREAT_CENTRAL_LAKE-TR.rmp
I downloaded the RMP TOOLS conversion coftware & tried a converted file also, which did the same thing.
Am I missing something?
Any help would be appreciated.
