any editor will do. e.g Notepad.

Please ensure you do not install MMO in the default program location, but in another directory e.g. D:mmo. This will allow MMO to run on Vista and Win7

I found the file myself, but how can I change the 1 to 0 from specified line?

MMO1 only creates the "old" IMG Format, which is not compatible with the current Units.

You will need to use MMO2.7 to make the maps. But even MM02.7 is set by default to IMG. You will also need to edit the mmoffice.ini and change Byte_Order=0 (creates IMG file)
to
Byte_Order=1 (creates IMI file)

Here below my actions to do the task (thanks to your suggestions):
1. I opened the IMG file (Mapsource Garmin) and edit a portion of it; I converted it to .mp format and then to .shp
2. with MMO I create the new map and saved it on my drive in .img format
3. I used MMOConverter to obtain a file able to be upload on my GPS
4. I checked the new map with VP but ... it's not visible/available

Where is the mistake? I found that the new map fprmat is ever .img (Mapsource Garmin).

Maybe this topic has been already discussed in the forum but I didn't find it, perhaps I have to look for it better.

Yes. It's possible and already well described.

I would advise to start with understanding the difference between the Garmin and Magellan maps structure. The main difference lies in the fact that Garmin operates with the types of objects, each of which is assigned its own atttributy display, and Magellan - with layers of maps. Strictly speaking, Magellan has no concept of the object type. The map consists of a set of layers, each of which is assigned its own set of display attributes. All objects in the layer will be displayed in the same way.

Little is written about it here: AddMagMap Manual. 2.7 Import Garmin maps

More information can be found here: Garmin to Magellan or here: GENERATING MAPS FOR EXPLORIST.

P.S. I would not advise to use utility POI_DB_Creator by Michael Sharonov - it works very unstable, especially with files containing a large number of points. Instead, use the utility Gremlin Jack which converts mp file to dbf suitable for further processing through MMOfficePOI

//Cheers, Victor

Hi,

yes, this is possible, but only for free, not protected and not in the new NT format Gamin maps.

You will need the following software:

1. GPSMapEdit
2. mp2shp (I use Global Mapper)
3. MMOffice 1.0 & MMOffice 2.7

...and a lot of time...

As a start read through Micahils website
Once you have understood the process, feel free to ask me specific questions which may be still open.
