I've already got them on my x710 but if I didn't I would DEFINITELY grab them for this price as I've been in several out of town areas and boy does it ever help out. I just wish good ole Sockeye's maps were routeable. Can't have your cake and eat it too tho....oh well. I say get em while you can guys & gals. What I'm wondering is are they prepping for a new version of the maps based on updated data sometime soon or what's going on....

Thanks everybody for the information. I guess I got spoiled by Sockeye's cheap / free topo maps and wanted to have my city maps and eat my cake too. 😛

No.

There is an alternative. You could use iGO 8.3 on your 510 (together with the eX MOD). But this would not be cheaper, as the software and maps cost about 100$

I've heard some stuff about open street maps. Do those only work on Garmins? It seems a shame that the only option is the $100 map from Magellan.

What's wrong with me ??? I think $100 for city series Europe is a very reasonable price (I purchased a US 710 long before they were available in the European version). I purchased the city series Europe as soon as it was available on Magellan's site, and I'm very happy with it.

Well, Magellan is in business to sell stuff.
If we could turn a 510 into a 710 for next to nothing they would never sell another 710.
In fact if Magellan changed anything now to allow that I would demand my money back for the 710 I bought!

So until someone hacks into them, designs or buys the program, makes the maps and then decides to give it away cheap, I guess we're stuck with buying it from Magellan. 🙁

When in trouble or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout

By now, you need a MSDK for creating routable maps. The tools, M4M uses, are not able to create such maps. So there is no known way to produce routable maps for free / cheap.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Magellan's City map to get turn by turn directions on my Explorist 510. I've been in contact with the Maps4me people, and they don't offer them.

Thanks
