Mike, I was asking about the HOW, not the WHY.

I guess, a larger ammount of RAM would be able to use after editing the atlas.ini? file, where the memory of the device is written down.

The HOW question has an impossible answer.  Upgrading the RAM chip on the motherboard is not possible.

soldering is not a problem.  does anyone have the part or a good part number

How do you want to enlarge the RAM? Are you able to solder this tiny stuff?

Steffen,

We are just preparing to release the Fishing Hiking Software for the Lakes in the USA along with the FHS Pro software.  We are noticing that even on the 710 that the RAM is insufficient to load too many lakes.

When you go to activate the Lakes and have too many the RAM overloads and does an automatic reboot.

So we can see why this member would like to "up" the RAM.

how would a 510 respond if the ram was upgraded to something larger.

would software respond ok?

this is making the assumption that the slow behavior of the unit is caused be a lot of memory swapping at some stages of operations.
