Impressive! I guess I will revel in the delight of quick averaging and not fret. Thanks for the rapid reply. I guess I'll add my desire for a little more averaging data on the wish list topic.

In the tests I did with my GC last summer and fall it was much faster than the user guilde suggested and it is very accurate.

I have no idea how many readings it took, but when I averaged the same spot several times a day for four days it always put me with-in 10 to 12 feet of the first one!

When in trouble or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout

Would a veteran GC user please describe how the GC should react when averaging a waypoint's readings? I know the user guide says to wait about 2 minutes for an accurate reading to take place; my unit gets done a lot more quickly. Is there a way to know how many readings the unit has averaged to yield the final waypoint? (If not, this will become a wish list item for me!) I am finding this ultra-efficiency a little unsettling, though the averaging itself is a nice feature to have now (from my perspective as a Triton user). The only other unit I have used with averaging is the Garmin Map 60CSx, and that unit records the number of readings, presumed accuracy of the final reading, etc.

Having used the Garmin and having waited for a long time to get a really accurate average (supposedly), and having hand-averaged points myself, the speed with which my GC finishes is making me question how well it is getting the job done. I have no clue. I'd love for it to be amazingly fast and accurate; maybe it is.
