Ok, I've only had my GC for a few hours, after decided to take the plunge. I love the screen and the geocaching functionality, however, after installing the new software I've noticed something a little strange with the Attributes. I was looking at several of the caches that I've placed and they all have the attribute of snakes, however, on the GC they show up as needing scuba gear!!! But other than that, I'm ready to start running up some finds with this thing.

B) I've been out playing with it.
Kiss The updates are pretty good for me, the sun & moon are now where they belong on the compass ring.
:woohoo: My tracking problem is cured, it now makes a track I can save!
 I have not found a control for GC# or cache names on the map, I would rather the names myself.
 I never had a panning problem at all.
:side: The found icons are not an issue for me, I don't load any found caches and I usually delete a cache from the GPSr after I find & log it.
Kiss I like the proximity alert.
Kiss The unit does start up quicker now.

:woohoo: All in all I'm quite happy with the GC. :woohoo:
:silly: Except that the screen and fonts are too small. My tired old eyes need larger fonts! 🙂

When in trouble or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout

I have the same issue with the pan feature. I didn't realize it made a difference if the compass was on the screen or not. Having said that, I just tried it and it seems to work fine now. I'll see what happens the next time.
The only other issue is the fact that the names are no longer displayed on the map screen. They've been replaced with the GC code.I suspect that's just a setting, but I can't for the life of me find it.
The update didn't seem to help my issue of freezing up when close to a cache. That one still puzzles me. It won't do it at any greater distances than about 20 or 30 feet from the cache regardless of weather conditions or structural interference.

Other than that, I agree this is almost the perfect caching machine. I really love the 'found' icons on the map screen. As trivial as that is, it really makes a difference when caching.

I think its better. I like the proximity alert (on the map) and I think it starts up faster if you don't have new gpx files.

I also like the go to closest cache from the map, I just wish it excluded the found ones (not sure if someone pointed that out).

I agree on those two points. On the first cache I found after the update, I did a double take on the proximity alert and didn't expect to see this "pulsing" ring around GZ. Ditto on the cold start....much, much improved!

Couldn't agree more though about excluding the found caches as the "closest to" cache.

I noticed on the mapping screen every now and then if I have the compass ring displayed, when I pan using the pointer and it goes out of the ring, the distance suddenly jumps from say 2 km to 6648km. Bizarre to say the least.

That being said, I love the GC. For the price and the paperless, it's a great addition to the GPSr arsenal I've got collecting in my den!

Problems are what gets people motivated to write; seeking help or just venting frustration. So, little forum activity must be good news!

geocaching name: cindy&randy
I (Randy) am the guy, and therefore entitled to hold and control the TV remote and of course the GPSr.

Been awfully quiet around here so I though I would see what people think about the upgrade (sorry for those of you who had problems).

I think its better. I like the proximity alert (on the map) and I think it starts up faster if you don't have new gpx files.

I also like the go to closest cache from the map, I just wish it excluded the found ones (not sure if someone pointed that out).

I would be nice if it could process your "My Found" gpx file to update the found caches. I was able to manually update the device database but that's not a good option for most people.

The main menu up/down/right/left sequencing seems a little strange. With my custom menu, with the items stacked top to bottom instead of a circle, it seem that up is sometimes down, until I get the the bottom of the list and then up is up.

One thing I have recently noticed was that the cache names, if they are really long, aren't readable. They get chopped off on the top and none of the other fields let you see it.

Been finding a lot of caches lately and the unit seems to work good, and the tracks work too so it's find to see where I've been on google earth after a long day of caching.

What about everyone else. Did you all give up and return them or are you all out caching with no time for the forum?
