The GPS store all of the cache IDs of the caches logged on it. However, if you go into Settings and then select Stats you can then press "Menu" and "Reset Geocache History" - this should clear all of the past finds.

Thanks. I was able to delete everything off the GPS, but when I loaded the pocket query, all the smilies (Found Its) for the previous owner came back. It's almost like the GPS is directly linked to her geocaching.com account.

Is there a way to search on nearby caches, or do we have to load them manually by pocket query?

Just note that you have to be a premium member at Geocaching.com to download pocket queries. Otherwise you can download individual caches, one at a time.

Also, if you want to load your past finds on the GC, the found status does not get transferred. You'll have to go through and manually mark them as found.

Oh yeah, go to this link - User Manual to download the user manual for the explorist GC.

What model explorist is your unit?

To remove geocaches from the unit;
With a 'GC' model, go to Geocaches on the unit and press the menu button.
Then using the joystick scroll down the list to 'Delete All' at the bottom of the list.
Press the joystick, then you will see "Are you sure you want to delete all geocaches?" Highlight yes and press the joystick.
Now go to 'Waypoints' and do the same thing - "Delete all".

To load geocaches to the GC, create a Pocket Query on geocaching.com, send it to your computer and un-zip it.
Now turn on the GC and plug it into your computer.
On the screen of the GC select 'Connect to PC.
On your computer the GC will appear as an external drive, open it and you will see a list, open 'geocaches'. Now drag & drop the GPX file from the un-zipped Pocket Query to the geocaches file on the GC.
Then drag & drop the wpts GPX file from the Pocket Query to the waypoint file on the GC.

When you unplug the gc from the PC the geocaches will be on the list on the unit.

My mom just purchased a used Explorist, and we are having trouble using it.

1)The Finds of the former owner are still in there, and we would like to delete these somehow and load ours.

2)Is there a way to search for nearby caches? There are preloaded caches in this one, but when we are out caching, we would like the option to find some close by.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much.
