Oh yeah, it's the upgrade that has this issue.
When I first got the unit it scrolled fine but I had no tracks being saved or showing up on the map.
The upgrade fixed the track issue & a few other problems but seems to be the cause of this scrolling issue.
Perhaps the next upgrade will fix it?
It's annoying but not a deal killer.

Thanks Phil,

My issue has only occurred on battery power, we have not tried any AC or car adapters yet. I also recall the scrolling issue happening only after we upgraded to 1.4 so maybe it is something related to the firmware update?

Well, this is getting curiouser & curiouser.
What I've found is when the unit is plugged into the car power plug the blue screen shows up when I scroll in the direction I last traveled, it scrolls fine in any other direction.
When it is running on batteries and I shut it down and restart, it scrolls with no problems at all!
If I don't restart it the scrolling problem stays in whatever direction I happen to travel, at any scale or with a go-to or without a go-to.

Now, on batteries, the scrolling problem has happened just once.
When it's plugged in it happens every time!

I have the same issue. It showed up with the new firmware (which I've reinstalled several times). It appears that when it happens, it happens in one direction only. Not always the same direction on each occurrence, but for instance, when it happens say moving cursor to the right, then it will scroll properly in the 3 other directions.
I don't know if that means anything to the designers, but that's what I've noticed. I haven't been able to pin down any other pattern to when it happens, but it is quite often.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for mentioning having a go-to cache selected. That seems to be when it occurs the most. I have found that it is very repeatable with our GPSr when we are set at 800 feet and have a GC selected as a go-to. As mentioned, hitting the back button resets the condition but I can duplicate pretty quickly. Like you, we thought that we may have fat-fingered something to cause the condition but who knows. We do know that the back button is redemption for us so we'll keep using it.

Thanks!

Cliff

I have not had that problem but I don't scroll the map very often.
So I went outside and started scrolling the map all over the place.
What you describe happened once, when I had it set to go-to a cache and the map zoomed out to show 2 miles on the scale.
Hitting 'back' reset it. I could not get it to do that again, it scrolled perfectly no matter what I did.
At first I thought I had depressed the set button while scrolling, but I tried depressing it with no effect.
I have about 3,000 caches loaded but perhaps loading close to the limit (10,000) can affect it?
Maybe reinstalling the firmware/update can help?

Not much help, I know, but at least mine acted like yours once.
I seem to remember somebody posting about a similar problem a while ago but I can't find it.

Good luck;

Phil

Hi Everybody!

Long time reader of both the Triton forums and now the Explorist forum. I've been a big Magellan fan since my first Meridian Yellow and GPS companion, they have all done what I bought them for and have given me little trouble throughout the years.
Anyway, I bought my son a GC a couple of weeks after it was released to the public and so far it has been his "go to" GPS for geocaching. I absolutely love not having to use VP to load geocaches to it and enjoy having the ability to view logs. I have found an issue that has become somewhat of an annoyance. While scrolling the map, when the cursor reaches the edge of the screen the distance from current position (shown at the top of the display) jumps from feet to miles. Typically, the distance will read between 6 and 10 thousand miles from the current position and the map display shows nothing but a light blue screen with the cursor. If I hit the back button it immediately goes back to the present position and functions normally.
Are we the only people experiencing this? We are using version 1.4 software and have had no other issues.

Thanks,

Cliff
