GSAK is the way for me. Just a click of the 'send to GPS' button and I have all my waypoints ready to go.

This seems to work best for me too. This helps to organize the files separately and only use VP for the Triton.

I (Randy) am the guy, and therefore entitled to hold and control the TV remote and of course the GPSr.

I am using GSAK also, I would love to use VP, but as Phil said, it's junk right now. I can never get it to download my PQs correctly.

I use GSAK and have been loading the pictures along with it, just to test the system. Works just fine. Smart move to give a unit to Clyde during the testing phase as he had it working prior to the release of the GC for sale.

I do up a pocket query, it arrives in a zip folder, loads into "My GPS folder" (VP) and then downloads in a bink of an eye. My pocket query's are around 500 caches each time I load one. Pictures, attributes ect are included.
You can load direct to GPS but I am tracking caches on the VP map.
No problems, works for me.

GSAK too...BTW, I wouldn't have bought this unit without this ability. 🙂 One of the final things that bothered me about the Triton Series was the lack of an open API/Mechanism for GSAK to transfer.

I have sent 4500 'nearest' non-found caches to the unit WITH pictures. Not sure the pictures are really necessary or add value, but cool to have sometimes. Since I do a decent number of puzzles they can be critical. However, most of the time the picture is just the local GC group logo :S

I use GSAK send to GPSr same as I do when I use my Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx. Also use GSAX to load group event caches when attending events.

GSAK has way to many advantages to not use it to load the unit.

I'm using GSAK, send to GPS, no pictures & I clear the files.
I use VP as little as possible now, it's slow, unstable and freezes after every transfer - I have to unplug the GPSr to get VP to work again after any transfer to GPS. VP is actually working better since the last update, that's how bad it used to be. It's still nearly useless!
I filter out found caches and puzzles then load all other caches in Massachusetts to the eXplorist GC.
I keep a separate file of solved puzzles on my eXplorist XL.
New caches before I update my GSAK files I load straight from GC.com to the eXploristGC.
I really, really like the file system of the XL, I can load an unlimited number of caches on the SD card, they are in LOC instead of GPX but I can have every cache in New England in my back pack.
Oh yes, I usually have three GPSr with me when away from home, Triton 2000, eXplorist XL and eXplorist GC.
The GC is always with me now, small and light weight with allot of local caches loaded.
Any excuse for another nifty toy is a good excuse!
So, I also have an iPhone in my pocket all the time, it's cool logging the cache online while sitting at the cache! 😛

When in trouble or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout

I should answer for myself. I too am using GSAK, no pictures. I do not have it clear the files as I have found that causes the system to take longer to restart, but I do use a filter to only export the files that were updated the last time they were imported (last change date compared to last update gpx is the same). That way, I am only exporting the caches that were updated the last time they were imported.

GSAK, no pictures (don't care about them) and last 10 logs. I usually tell GSAK to wipe waypoints and caches before sending. I've sent up to 7000 with no issues.

I'm just curious how people are loading their caches into their GC?

Are you using GSAK's "Send to GPS" feature. Or VP sync? Or just saving your pocket queries right to your device?
