Thanks all, I'll contact Magellan.  I thought maybe there was some trick that I could perform to get it to start but it sounds as though its just defective.

First of all, if under warranty you should return the unit to the seller or Magellan for an exchange.

Our sources in Magellan are telling us that the most likely cause of the refusal to start problem is the "the power button". 

You can try to short it to see if the unit will start.

If your device is not giving any sign of life, try to bring it back to the dealer and exchange it to a new device.

There are very little chances, we could bring it back to life.

If my memory serves me right, you can not upgrade from 1.0 directly to  version 2+ because of some configuration changes that took place in earlier upgrades.  Try upgrading to v1.7 and the upgrading to v2.15.

Some users download the wrong firmware, as Magellan offers both an PC and Mac version.

Is it possible that you tried your upgrade with the wrong version.

All the PC version are on our http://www.jungleghost.com website.

Try the upgrade with a lower version and tell us what happens.
