I was quoting the specifications of the remaining memory in the units as shipped. You are right, the 710 does have 8 GB and the 610 has 4 GB of memory before any software or maps are installed.

Thanks for the info. So, now that I've installed City Streets on my eX610 I now have the equivalent of an eX660, right? :>)

The big difference between the eX610 and the eX710 is the City Streets Maps and the eX710 has 8Gb of internal memory where the eX610 has only 4Gb.

Oops, since I read these in an RSS feed I didn't see that something had already answered this, however, the 4Gb & 8Gb's are the actual specs from the Magellan Reps.

The 710 has 3 GB of internal memory compared to the 610's 500 MB. This should not be a problem for you because you can install a memory card if you need more maps installed on the GPSr. It could become a problem for some people if they purchase maps that are on micro sd cards. These maps can not be moved to larger cards because they are "keyed" to the card they were installed on. Not having a larger internal memory could then be a problem if you want more maps installed at the same time. Switching sd cards is also tedious.

So, I ordered (and received) an Explorist 610 about a week ago. Great GPS. Then I figured I needed the City Streets map so I ordered it online and got it downloaded and installed today. Seems to work just fine but I was just curious if there was anything besides City Streets the E710 has that the E610 doesn't.

I guess I should have just ordered the E710 from the get-go but the E610 with City Streets does everything I want it to do so I'm happy with it.

Thanks,
