:woohoo: An addiction, I have a hard time believing that - or at least admitting it!!!

I am not addicted, I can stop geocaching anytime I want to.

But why would I want to?

After watching me hike 3 miles in a snow storm in a northern Maine swamp to get a cache my cousin told me to get a life.
So I googled 'get a life' and it brought me to geocaching.com!

I know the add waypoints & add geocaches are different, but the add waypoint wouldn't work for me so I added a geocache the way I described instead.

Adding a Geocache is a different function than adding a Waypoint. They apprear on different menus.
The Add Waypoint is from the main menu Map, then Menu, at the top of the list.
The Add Geocache is from the main menu, Geocaches, 12 steps down the list. (Isn't that ironic? Geocaching is an addiction for many of us. :silly: }
The Add Geocache gives the averaging feature and provides data fields that are unique for geocaches.

geocaching name: cindy&randy
I (Randy) am the guy, and therefore entitled to hold and control the TV remote and of course the GPSr.

That way would be simple but wouldn't come up on my unit.
When I pressed 'add waypoint' all I got was current location and projection to choose from.
I remember adding waypoints when I first got the unit, but out in the woods the page wouldn't load right.
I made my posts from a coffee shop on a friends laptop, I figured out my work-around while having lunch, then back out for a few more cache hunts.

After seeing your post I decided to reload the firmware and update.
So this morning I cleared memory and reloaded FW twice and what-da-ya know it now has the proper add waypoint screen.

I guess the last update didn't load correctly or something?

Or the simple way would be

From the main Menu
-Waypoints
-Menu
-Add new waypoint
-Coordinates
-Use joystick to enter Coordinates
-OK
-Save
-GO

OK, I figured out a way to add a geocache by coords input, this is from the manual;

Setting the GPS Position
Set GPS position provides a way to view map areas other then you present position. When setting
GPS position, the GPS Sirf chip is disabled and the screen is set to the location you have select either
by entering in a set of known coordinates or panning on the map.
1. Access the Tools menu and select ‘Settings’.
2. Highlight ‘GPS’ and press ENTER.
3. Highlight the ‘Set GPS Position’ field and press ENTER.
4. Select ‘Point on Map’ (a position you define by using the pan cursor while viewing the Map) or
‘Coordinates’
If you select Coordinates, the coordinates screen is displayed. Use the joystick to select the fields
and then to set the values.
Select ‘OK’ when done.

Then go to;
Adding a Geocache
1. Press MENU and select ‘Add Geocache’ from the Options menu.
2. Wait approximately 2 minutes while the receiver uses ‘waypoint averaging’ to calculate an
accurate position. The bottom of the “Add Geocache” screen will display the estimated accuracy
when it is done averaging.
3. To change the name, highlight the Name field and press ENTER. Use the keyboard to enter the
desired name.
4. To change the Difficulty, Terrain, or Size move the highlight to the desired field. Use the joystick
left or right to change the setting.
5. Press MENU and select ‘Save’ to save the geocache.

With the gps off it won't average so just save.
Then remember to turn the gps back on.

This sucks, there should be a "create waypoint" button somewhere or a way to edit coordinates.

I just found out I can't create a new waypoint or geocache by punching in the coordinates.
I spent 20 minutes at the first stage of a multi-cache trying to figure it out.
Luckily I had my trusty Triton 2000 in the truck, just a 1/2 mile added hike.
Nothing in the manual after I got home.
What am I missing here?
Is there a way to input coordinates in the field?
