Thanks for the tips. I'm working on redoing the code using a working file and saving after every minor change. I have added in one complete cache and it is working well so far, the other caches before and after it still show up. So, hopefully I'll be able to solve the problem this way and maybe figure out where the error is.

Tim,

I'm sorry, I should have asked where the GPX files came from.
It would seem there is something wrong with the code in your file.
I don't know anything about writing GPX files, I just get them from Geocaching.com.

So I can't help you but David should be able to track down the issue when he has the time.

If you are creating the caches with the GC they should be individual gpx files on the GC, then you could load them to a new database on GSAK, edit them and load them back to the GC
Good luck;

Phil

Tim,

I went through the XML code on your GPX files, but I only had a few minutes to do it. There is something about the code that is causing the problem. Now I'm going way back in my memory, but at one time there was a problem with caches that didn't have something in the owner field and they weren't showing up or were causing the GPS to stop loading the file, but that was from a long time ago. Anyway, the problem is something with the way these caches are being input and I know you said the one file was generated by the GPS it's self. I took GSAK and added 10 caches from another GPX file to your GPX and those that I added all showed up, but they were on the lead of the GPX file. Anything after the first cache in your GPX file is being dropped because the unit is erroring out on that first cache and this is why you're only seeing the 1 cache. I wish I had more time to check it out, but it is a very busy time for me at the church for the next couple of weeks.

Here is what I can do. I'm going to create a couple of new caches with my GC and see if I'm getting the same problem with the GPX file that my GC is creating and if I do, I will forward this issue on to Magellan.

David

I have tried using GSAK and here are my results-
The file loads into GSAK and looks ok. 🙂
I can have GSAK generate a .gpx file and it has some unneeded code but looks ok. 🙂
I can drag and drop the file to the unit or use GSAK's add to GPSr function.
I see the files on the unit when it is connected to the computer, but only one cache shows up on the geocaches menu. Either the first cache in the combined file, or the last cache added with add to GPSr, shows up. 🙁 I'm trying to figure out what happened to the rest of the caches.

Is Magellan Communicator supposed to help with this somehow? I thought that was just for loading caches from Geocaching.com. That is working fine for me. The caches I'm having problems with are ones I'm trying to create without putting them on Geocaching.com.

Thanks for your help so far, but do you have any other ideas?

That was gonna come later. :laugh:

OK, it's later;

Drag & drop GPX files works fine if the files are not screwed up.
But where did the GPX file come from?
I've been helping people (local cachers) trying to fix gpx files for years, now I just suggest they get PQs, load them to GSAK, filter in GSAK for what they want and load the GPSr from GSAK.
When you have many caches to load GSAK will always give you good files and you can load them straight to the GPS.

If you just want to load a few, not hundreds or thousands, then Communicator is the best and easiest way to load them.

Why do things the hard way? B)

The easiest way to load a few geocaches to the GPSr is to use the 'Send to My GPS' option on each cache page.
You will need to download Magellan's free Communicator app to your computer.

You can get Communicator here - Outdoor-Navigation

I have also tried to split each cache into its own .gpx file and still only one will show up. What do I need to do to make all of the caches show up?

Thanks!

Please email me the GPX file and I'll take a look at it.
