Have you tried "Every Trail" to find tracks in GPX format?
http://www.everytrail.com/
You will have to get an account to download GPX & KML files.
This is a link to a trail in S. Carolina "Table Rock";

When you have a GPX file on your computer use the 'Import' function of Vantage Point instead of drag & drop, I find it works a bit easier.
Here's the track on VP;
When in trouble or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout

Does this still work? I expected it to work this way, but it doesn't for me (VP 2.32).I saved the data you link to as a gpx file, selected My Journal in VP and dragged the file to pretty much everywhere I can imagine in the My Journal area, and nothing.
The url in these messages will not work because it is not a .gpx file.
A .gpx file is really an .xml file and needs the appropriate headers and closing statements.

Hello All,
I am having some trouble, downloading gpx file from a website.
Planning a thru hike in a couple weeks of the Foothill trail in SC. I found a couple of good track and waypoint files, however when i try to down load, i can only get it in xml or text format.
I need to convert to gpx. I do not see a way to do this using expertgps or easy gps conversion tools that i have
I also tried converting text file, but the only option to convert seems to be from a csv file. I do not have a csv option when saving the file.
Not a show stopper, but I would like to have this data on my ex610 if I could.
Thanks to you all
Example of a file I am trying to download.
