To display caches on the map just set it for all and either icon only or icon & name. Any other settings will be screwed up & confusing.

When you load caches from Geocaching.com they will all be loaded but without any found or did not find markings.

To be totally redundant;  🙁 😛

“NOT FOUND” only displays caches you have previously marked as DNF on your unit.

The FOUND and DNF information for the unit is stored in file “Magellan_Geocache_Extention.gpx” (in Geocache folder) and therefore those options only works when this file is present. If you delete this file when you load new cache or PQs the Found and DNF record of the unit is removed.

Graham.

It's not really a bug, Magellan just doesn't understand geocaching terms.
Magellan apparently had no geocachers on staff, they got the terminology wrong.

NOT FOUND means that you marked it on the GPSr as NOT FOUND, that's the only way they will then display as not found. It does not mean "did not find" on Geocaching.com
FOUND means a cache you marked as found on the GPSr, not a cache you found and logged as found on Geocaching.com.
NOT ATTEMPTED means caches you have not marked (on the GPSr) as found or not found.

To display caches on the map just set it for all and either icon only or icon & name. Any other settings will be screwed up & confusing.

Any that you mark as 'found' on the GPSr will show as a smilie face on the map.
And do not mark any as not found on the GPSr, it'll just be more confusing.

And we have gone over this a couple of times before, periodically with new members we get the same questions again.
It's a bit confusing at first for everyone. :S

Hmm...indeed this MAY be a bug.... I have just downloaded 2 just published caches with NO logged finds and I can ONLY get them to display along with all the other caches ONLY if the map options are set for the geocache as either ALL or NOT FOUND & NOT ATTEMPTED. If set to Not Found they do not display...I would think they would show if either I had not found them (which is what I think it should be) or even better, had NO LOGGED FINDS....but they do not??? Wow! Anyone else getting that to happen on their units? BTW, I'm on an x710 with newest firmware.....

You might also need to adjust your settings as to what kinds of caches that you want showing up.... There is a setting for the display to show:

ALL
FOUND
Not Found
Not Attempted
Not Found & Not Attempted

bla bla bla....

May have to adjust your settings there to show exactly what you want...

All that is under Map Options.....easily accessed by touching the screen & bringing up the 4 corner menu...tap bottom right corner & scroll down to the map options entry.....

Good luck and happy caching!

p.s. I just thought about it for a minute and thought I remembered going thru this once before and I too had problems with the display of caches. If you have it set to NOT FOUND then I "THINK" it will only display the caches that are NOT LOGGED as found....I just tried it on my unit and it's doing that very thing. I thought that it should be displaying the one's that I have not found....not the whole world. Should be an entry put in for UNFOUND instead of NOT FOUND I think....just my opinion tho...would be awfully nice

I have a GC & 710, not a 310 but go to 'Map Options' and under Geocaches select show all and select show icons & name, or icon only.

is there a way to show the geocaches on the maps of my EX310. My son got the GC and said his caches show up on the map screens. Seeing the GC and the EX310 are close to the same i thought maybe the EX310 could do it too.
