Ok, here is the scoop! Yes, it was a mistake and it shouldn't have shown up on the website and that it why is was immediatly taken off once I called Eric at Magellan. However, here is the good news! The reason that it did show up is because they were testing it for when it is released. So, let's just say that they're starting to get everything in place so that it can be released... :cheer:

Nope and he doesn't have the faintest idea of internet security...

Good, they took it down.
I would rather that than have a link to an update that doesn't exist yet or that I can't access.

So, does the person setting up the support web page work for Garmin? 😛

They took the reference to the firmware update away.

I will have an answer about this in just a few minutes. Normally we, the Beta Testers, download the upgrades from an FTP site so there is no reason for them to post them on the public site. It was my understanding that a new Beta was coming out, but that a public release was a little ways off, but I just spoke to the Product Manager at Magellan and he's going to call me back in a few minutes to tell me what is going on. So, when he does I'll let all of you know...

V 4.62 is there also, for the 610. Password protected as well. David DID mention a fw update coming soon, and this might be the one he's referring to. He also mentioned on another thread about the Virtual Keyboard, that it would likely be included on again, a further update.

I believe this is the first of the 2 updates to which he's referring. And yes, it's probably for Insider's eyes only .... We'll get it soon enough.

I don't care that much, my 610 works a thousand times better as it sits than my T500 ever worked !

I don't think so. For me it looks as if someone just copied the link for the Beta Testers to the Download Page (that's wy you need a password), instead of the link to the regular files :S

Not that I could find, but it's not really released yet is it.

Maybe, but on the web site it says;

Download Details
Filename: Link

Total Downloads: 0
Size: 0.00 Bytes

Creation Date: 06 Apr 2011 11:40 PM

Modified: 06 Apr 2011 11:41 PM

So, nobody has downloaded it and the file size is ZERO!

This is just stupid, in my opinion of course.

I no longer trust VP to do an update correctly.

I don't think they are teasing us, I think who ever is running their web site is STUPID!!!!

I'm not trying to be insulting, but how many times is this going to happen?

From dictionary.com;

stu·pid
   [stoo-pid, styoo‐] -er, -est, noun
–adjective
1.
lacking ordinary quickness and keenness of mind; dull.
2.
characterized by or proceeding from mental dullness; foolish; senseless: a stupid question.
3.
tediously dull, especially due to lack of meaning or sense; inane; pointless: a stupid party.
4.
annoying or irritating; troublesome: Turn off that stupid radio.
5.
in a state of stupor; stupefied: stupid from fatigue.

Perhaps they are just tired?

I guess that this is the same problem as we had with the NMEA drivers?
But at least the new Firmware here for the 710 is out :woohoo:

I WILL HAVE IT
