Use the Sync (from pc to gps)function to get the route to the unit. At least that's how I always do it with no problems.

Grr.....no luck still.

Here's what I'm doing:
1) Connect 610 to VP
2) Click on the IMPORT button and choose TRACKS as the file type and GPX as the format
3) Once imported I see it on the left pane - I right click that and choose CONVERT TO ROUTE
4) Leave the default setting at 30 points (I tried 100, too)
5) Click EXPORT button
6) Choose the ROUTE I just created
7) Choose .rte as the format
8) Browse to my ROUTES folder on the 610 and SAVE

When I look via Windows, the file is there.
When I go to the ROUTES icon, it shows no routes

Am I doing something wrong? I wouldn't think it would be that hard to do....maybe it's a bad file?

Open the track details page in VP and convert it to a route. You can change the number of points with the conversion for up to 100. Then export the route to the unit with VP.

Ok, I'll be home shortly and will try that.

If I import as a track can I then navigate with it? (meaning, activate the track to follow the course)

It will work if imported as a track instead of a route

Try using the Import feature. Import - Route - format GPX - specify location, then try that. Sometimes the routes you get from other sites are not in the correct format, and won't work in VP, or on the unit.

You can also try to import it into Google Earth, then Export it as a .kml or .rte file, which VP also recognizes, then import it in those formats. You'll then be able to Transfer from VP to My GPS the new route, which should work.

Hey guys,

I've had my unit for a while now and enjoy keeping the tracks from long hikes, but now I want to load a route that I picked up from Everytrail.

Simple drag and drop into the Route folder doesn't work and I saw limited information with a Google search.

Can somebody help me out here?

What I'm doing:
1) Download GPX from Everytrail and save to desktop
2) Plug in 610
3) Drag GPX to ROUTES folder

Thanks.
