Go to 'GPS' on the top of the GSAK page, click it and set it up for Magellan - 710.
When you are ready to load the 710, connect it to the computer, click 'GPS' on GSAK, then click 'Send Waypoints'.
You will get this;
Un-check the boxes where it says 'Clear from GPSr before send' and it will not over write whats on the 710.
Click on the box for 'Grab Images From Internet Before Sending'.

Then send them to the 710.

Thanks ! I didn't check that box ,, that is why it was over writeing instead off apending the caches on my 710

I have Google tool bar (translation is one of the features)on my home page and you are correct it will translate the french to english but like you say I don't think it will load it to gps in the translated format.

I had to do all my caches via the paper method with my old Magellan Meridian and when I printed anyting off that was in french it printed it in french.

I found a translation macro for GSAK.
It gives you a splitscreen translation of a cache from almost any language to almost any other language!

It adds 'Translate' to the Split Screen drop down menu and will translate whatever cache you select in your database using Google translate.
It works great, I was just playing with it.

For anyone that wants it go here - HTML Translator

I don't think it will allow you to send a translated cache file to your GPSr though.
But it is nice to be able to read the cache page of any cache.

Leave it to me as I said earlier if there is a wrong way to do something I will usually do it LOL..

I just realized after doing my route in a couple of different PQ and then a Final destination PQ and downloaded them to GPS after I completed each GSAK .

I didn't realize each download would overwrite the previous one so after spending most of the day setting this up I realize I need to do it all again but just load each PQ into GSAK before downloading it to GPS.

Oh well being retired has it benefits 😉

Gary

By the way the reason I am doing this in sections is because I am taking my route to Quebec and some of the caches are in French and I don't read French so needed to purge those that aren't in both languages

If you have more than 500 caches in a PQ Geocaching.com will not send them as an e-mail.
You will get an e-mail telling you a PQ is ready for download.
You must download them from your Pocket Query page on GC.com.

I did what you said but for some reason it wouldn't send to my e-mail account but after doing a google search on this issue I saw where some said to click on the repair link becide the address bar in IE and it did seem to solve the problem.

By the way, don't edit the files, just filter the caches you want on the 710.
Like nothing harder than 3x3, or nothing further than 30 miles from home, no multis, etc.
You can have every cache in an area on GSAK and then just load the 710 with the caches you feel like hunting for today.

As an example I have every cache in Massachusetts, over 9,000 caches, in a file in GSAK that I update every few weeks. That takes 10 PQs.
If I plan to go west this week-end I load the caches from the area I'm going to from GSAK straight to my 710.

Once you get used to using GSAK you will find many ways to make loading caches and planning geocaching trips much easier.
Of course with a 710 I don't bother filtering out anything and just let the 710 guide me to the cache.

Yes, you first create the route then play with it for length and distance from route for caches.
You should set the PQ for 1,000 caches, when you try the PQ and it says you have 1,000 reduce the distance to route or length till you get just under 1,000.

Don't unzip any of the PQs, just load them into GSAK, it will unzip them.
GSAK is the best way to manage Geocaches. You can filter out any caches you don't want on the GPSr in GSAK. Much easier than trying to filter the PQs.

For a pretty good tutorial on PQs and GSAK go to the file section of this board, click tutorials and look for Pocket Queries & GSAK 101 to download and read at your leasure.

Is making a PQ along the route work the same way ?

I plan on taking a 500 mile trip in a couple of weeks.

WE GOT IT WAHOO.

Thanks Jim for you help, I am like a bull dog with a bone LOL.

What I was doing wrong was after creating my PQ on Geocache I was previewing it one page at a time and deleting the caches that need maintenance or was temporary disabled then saving them one page at a time to GSAK.

Just like caching I usualy take the hard way to get to the cache. LOL

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

What I needed to do was download the complete file to my PC then open it with GSAK and edit the files I didn't want from there and then DL to 710.

I will get this all figured out one baby step at a time.

Thanks Again
Gary

It is in GPX and I load the file to my 710 from GSAK.

However I don't see anything in the log or hint columns in GSAK so I would't think those fields would be filed on the 710 after down loading from GSAK

Is the PQ in GPX and not LOC?
The LOC format won't have discriptions, pics, etc.
How are you loading it from GSAK?
Are you downloading a file to your computer to load the 710?
Or are you loading the 710 straight from GSAK?

Thanks Phil I realized after I posted my question that that it is could be something I am doing or not doing with GCAK . I downoaded the PQ to gsak and then downloaded the file to my 710.

After trying this several times and not getting some of the data on my 710 I then realized I am not getting it into GSAK either,

I get the log, who placed it etc etc but I don't get the last posts or the hints and when I look at in on my 710 there is no discription of the Cache .. just the name and the cords.

P.S I am using GPX 1.01

Did you use GSAK?
Or did you load the PQ to the 710?

Either way are you using GPX version 1.0.1 ?
If not or if you are not sure go to 'Your Account Details' from your profile on GC.com.
Scroll down to 'Your Preferences' and look for 'GPX Version' at the bottom of the page.
If it's set at 1 change it to 1.0.1

Not sure if this is the correct thread to ask my question but if not please move it to the correct one.

I just received my 710 yesterday and am trying to get familiar with it.
As of yet I haven't updated the firmware (FW 2.63 ) and from what I read regarding the latest release with all the bugs that seem to be in it I think i would like to hold off tell they are ironed out unless I need to.

My issue I can't seem to figure out is with GSAK and PQ .

When I set up my PQ in GC I asked to show last 5 post, discription, hints etc etc. But after I download the PQ to my 710 all I seem to get is the WP with no descriptions hints or posts. any help with this is apprechated.

The only things I load from VP are routes and tracks.

I use GSAK to massage my PQs and to load the 710.

Another quick question.... When loading the x10 this way, do you get Attributes as well ? I've been having an issue with the 610 not loading images, or attributes, or cache owner, and I don't know if it's VP or the unit, or both. If this works I might use GSAK until the oem software/fw is fixed.

Hi Denis,

Certainly with the 710 you get images and attributes when loading via GSAK. I therefore would think the 610 would be the same.

Graham.

When you click send to GPS you will get this;

Check 'Grab images from internet before sending' and the attached images will be sent.
