I only added the link so that people could see what the website says about the update, but it actually isn't available for download except via VP!
As far as the voice recorder, I spent Tuesday with the guys from Magellan and I mentioned your concerns with this and they're alreadys aware of it, so I'm sure that at some point they will be addressing it.

Thanks David. However if I go to that link you provided and then click on Support to navigate to the 710 details I don't get anything for 6.53. As a matter of fact if I then go to the 610 details I don't get what your link shows either! Must be only available for USA users it seems.
Also wish they would upgrade the voice recording mechanism as I have previously mentioned it is way too sensitive and the slightest breeze when recording makes it in-audible. (I think that's a word?) On the other hand it wouldn't be much use to me anymore unless I bought a new unit.

I figured that was what the new stuff was but thought I would ask anyway.
And I was just being facetious before about free upgrades. :blush:
That's a pretty good list of lakes they cover.
They appear to be available now.
I'll have to get the one for New Hampshire to try them out, Massachusetts only has one lake that's covered.

I believe the Wintek panel is the coming new screen and electronics for the camera are being replaced (upgraded) as well and no - there isn't going to be a free upgrade. I was told from someone outside of the company that part of the reason for this is because the components currently being used are becoming hard to get so the company is moving to newer more available and better components.
The Fishing Hot Spots maps are all part of Magellan's move to have the widest availability of maps possible for these units so you will be seeing them come available on the website in the near future.

Well, I did the update and see no changes yet.
I would like to see what lakes are on the Fishing Hot Spots map before I buy them.
The link goes to the update page for the 610 and it needs a password.
I updated my 710 through Vantage Point.
I do have some questions;
What is a Wintek Panel?
New camera?

Connected my GPSr to the laptop this morning and received an update notification - 6.53 is now available(for the 710). Loaded the update and so far cannot see any difference to 6.33.
Looked up the Magellan Support page, but no mention of 6.53 and therefore no idea what has been updated.
Called Magellan Support, but they don't have any details on the upgrade either. Not a very integrated release it seems.
