WOOHOO! It works fine! :woohoo:
I downloaded the ITN Converter then converted a GPX file to oziexplorer(.rte) and imported that to VP routes.
The route is on VP and then I transferred it to my 710 with no problems.
Much easier than creating a route out of a waypoint file. 😛
Now I can go to bed happy.
Here's a link to the ITN Converter download page - LINK

All right!
Good job finding that converter, I was hoping someone would know about something like this to help you out.
I'll give it a try in a few hours, I need some sleep now.
I like that 14ers.com outfit, next year when I head out to Colorado again I'm going to try for a few peaks.
I usually go geocaching after chasing elk around with a bow & arrow, now I'll go for caches at 14,000 feet!

Figured it Out!
First download the gpx file, then you need to goole ITN converter and download that. Once downloaded and installed, open ITN converter and open the gpx file . Next select the output file format oziexplorer(.rte). Export this then goto the import menu in VP, slect route, then oziexplorer(.rte) file type. NExt find the newy created (.rte) file, it should load as a route in VP. Next connect yuor devise and under the sychronize menu select "from pc to gps" select the route and you should be good to go! Hope this helps, worked for me 🙂

Yeah, I tried that yesterday.
I downloaded the file for the route to Grays Peak as a KML, GPX and TOPO!GPS and can not load any of them to routes on VP or the 710.
It says 'Import Completed' 'No Files Have Been Imported' no mater what I do.
It will only import a Magellan rte file to routes!
I don't know if it's me or VP that is the problem but I'm hoping someone else tries it to see if I'm doing something wrong or confirm what I've seen.
To download a route from 14ers.com/ you have to register (free).

Yeah, the problem is the route source.
It's from 14ers.com
These are hiking routes to mountain peaks in Colorado over 14,000 feet high.
They have nothing to do with geocaching.
They are available as GPX, TOPO!GPS or Google Earth KML files to download, VP and Magellan units do not recognize them as route files.
So I tried loading them in VP as waypoints, no problem.
Then I created a route in VP by connecting the points, saved as a route and exported it to 710.
It worked but it took about 10 minutes to do it on a 3.48 mile route!
I was hoping someone knows of an easy way to convert a GPX file of waypoints to a Magellan .rte file.
I would like to see an easier way to create a route in VP, like START at waypoint #1 and END at waypoint #150 of a waypoint file.
Hopefully being able to load KML or GPX files as routes will be added to VP someday.

They're routes I've created with VP, and some I built with the Pocket Query Caches On A Route feature. You can build the route.gpx file to your COAR query, and I use that sometimes as well. I just tried with one route that I made with the COAR feature of Geocaching. It imported fine, and then Exported it as explained and it exported in .rte format.
Maybe your source file is questionable. Try making a route with Geocaching, save the gpx file, and import that to see if that works.

I believe you can Import the file ... Import - Routes - GPX file type, select location, then it'll load. Next, go Export - Route - select your route - export to .rte format - select location (device folder - Routes) and it should convert and save in the correct format. I may be wrong about the order of items above, but I'm almost certain that this method is how I loaded all of my routes onto my unit.

Yeah, the route file has to be a .rte file.
I downloaded a GPX route to Grays Peak from 14ers.com and loaded it as a waypoint file to Vantage Point.
Then I created a route in VP by connecting the points and loaded to my 710.
Here's a screenshot of the route file in my 710;
I have been playing with it but if someone knows how to convert the GPX file to a Magellan rte file it would be a lot easier than doing this my way.

yes, do not do it manually.
A firmware update consists of two parts.
1. The files which you can copy regularly in the USB mode
2. WinCE changes. This data is copied binary into the "hidden" partition of the storage. This cannot be done easily manually and it needs the Installer software.
The risk is that files of (1) may be dependant on data of (2) which can cause malfunctions.

It is possible to update the unit without a PC, however, I wouldn't advice it, especially if you're not extremely well versed in computers! However, if you want to risk it, you can download the update file from MagellanGPS.com to your computer. This files will be a .exe file, but you'll need to rename it to .zip and then uncompress the file. Once you've uncompressed the file you can then copy the files within it to the appropriate directories on your 610 - however, like I said - you're taking a big chance! I've done this in the past in order to revert back to a former firmware version, however, I've always gone ahead and ran the update afterwards... There is a big rish!!!
I would highly suggest just borrowing someones PC for a few minutes to update the unit!
