The demo file is in every update, I've seen by now.

Just save a copy of it in case you want/need it again.

I have a copy of everything on the unit on a flash drive so I can reinstall anything I screw up.

I copied the MPEG-4 Movie file demo.mp4 to my computer, then deleted it from my 710.

When I tap 'Play Product Demo' and 'Demo Mode Activated' the screen went black.
Tapped the screen and then I went back to 'Tools' then 'Stop Product Demo' and 'Demo Mode Deactivated' to reset it.
I then went back to the map and tested everything on the unit.
Everything works fine. 🙂
I watched the demo once the first day I had the unit and never bothered with it again.
By now I probably know more about using a 710 than the people that made the demo!
I think I'll leave it off the unit.

Hi,

give it a try. But do not directly delete it. Instead move it to your harddisk. Then you can copy it back if the unit fails because of the missing file...

...on other hand I would rather exchange it with a smaller video, than copying the original back.

That is a big file. Would it be safe to delete the thing? I know that it is actually a menu function.

I was wondering what the implications were if I delete it when it is associated with a menu function.

Any thoughts ideas opinions?

IMHO this feature is like an appendix. Don't need it.
