WOW! do these maps look great. I have not downloaded my state yet but will soon. This is exactally what I was looking for. They remind me of the Nat geo....only better looking. I hope they look like that on the 510. Thanks so much.... I love you guys!

Thanks for this feedback 🙂

btw. I am currently converting all Maps4me maps to "Summit Series comatible" to enable the cool topo look&feel.

Canada is already done, I'll link the files tonight.

Ditto on the Maps4Me maps. I don't even use the Summit maps since I downloaded the .imi maps from Maps4me. I also make and use my own maps using Google Earth images, with Mobile Atlas Creator (there's a link on the main page somewhere). Best maps you'll ever see !

I have a 710, so it came with Summit series topos.
They are very good topos.
But for almost free topos go to Maps 4 Me here - Maps 4 Me

These are topo maps made by Sockeye, one of the forum members. They work on the Explorists & Vantage Point and are great topos.

Don't worry about questions, ask away.
This forum and the Triton forum got me up and running so it's only right to return the favor.

Thank you again for your help. I did download the latest vantage point and see the affiliation with global maps. I will have a look at the subscription price tonight. I would like a nice set of topos too. Have you had experience with the Summit series maps? Sorry I'm asking so many questions. I am greatful for the help.

I never stop my 710 from tracking, I'll just save a track if I want it or just delete the active track before I start from the truck.
The 510/610/710 have many more options and different settings than the Tritons had.
You have to spend some time just playing around with it to learn all the things it can be set for.
Plus browse through the subjects of this forum, we have probably talked about and found ways to do about everything.

As far as satellite maps, Vantage Point has Global Digital sat image maps available.
You can create your own sat maps for free with MOBAC Atlas Creator.
On this forum look under "CUSTOM MAPS"

Thank you, I appreciate the help. This unit is different in so many ways from the triton. I like it so far. I not only had the track hidden, I had somehow set it to pause the track. Once I checked the resume track buttom it started laying down the trail. Thanks again. How about a thread to instructions on down loading sat. maps to the 510. You guys are great and make owning one of these units worth it. Kuddos to all of you who help us out so much! 😉

Go to 'Tools', 'Settings', 'Map Options' and scroll down to 'Show Tracks'.

I just purchased a 510 I will be using it for hunting and caching. I noticed when I walked down my well road it is not leaving a trail like my triton 1500 does. Am I missing something? Thanks for the ear.
