Ok, that explains why it's on the right spot on VP.
But I do not have decimal degrees set for anything on my 710, my primary is set for degree/minute and secondary is set to UTM.
If I tap the image icon on the map of the 710 it shows the coordinates in degree/minute but when I download the image to anywhere it shows decimal degrees?

I don't use decimal degrees and I'm not used to thinking of locations with them, so I guess I'll just have to convert them to what I want.
Not ideal but I suppose another work-a-round is good enough, for now. 🙁

The image is stamped with the location in decimal degrees. It will show this when viewing it on the unit by selecting the options menu in the lower right corner and scroll down to details. The location is carried along with the image when imported to Vantage Point. All of my photos have been spot on with location. No need to create a waypoint for the location.

Curiously when I load the picture to VP it puts it where it belongs but does not give coordinates of where it is.
I guess if you want to know the coordinates of where you take a picture you should create a waypoint after taking the picture?
Because the picture covers a lot of area on VP;

The only time my camera was out of focus is when the lens was dirty.
I took the back cover off, cleaned it and it works fine.

I almost never use the camera, not because it seriously drains the batteries (which it does, big time) but it still never tags the picture with the correct coordinates!

This is the title/name of a picture I just took of my truck and camper in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire.
I assume that that is the coordinates of the picture.
DCIM12[N4426692W07154441T3D1DF418H01E015].jpg
But the coordinates of my camper are N 44 16.007 W 71 32.663
Those two points are 21 miles apart.

.
In my opinion, if the GPSr can't show me coordinates of where the picture was taken the camera in it is useless!
My phone takes as good a picture and I usually have a good camera with me anyway.

I have not observed this problem on my 610. Here is a long shot, try removing the cover so you can get to the lens easier and make sure it is clean. Also, what kind of light conditions are you in? Sometimes backlit subjects, or uneven light will cause focus issues, especially on basic cameras like these.

What I have seen is that the camera seriously drains the battery.

Anyone else observed this?

My 710 does that since the FW update, but the pics seem to be clear once I d/l them to the computer.

Help! I can't seem to get my 610's camera to focus properly.

When I activate the camera (Media -> Camera)and tap the camera icon the green 'focus' box appears and the camera goes in and out of focus for a second or two then drops out of focus and automatically takes the picture.

I get essentially the same behavior if I use the camera button on the sided of the unit.

Any ideas? Is it an operator issue (likely) or a hardware issue (less likely)?

Thanks in advance!

Brian
