My unit will access the menu screens without a satellite lock.

Was there something causing it to not get a satellite signal that was also causing the unit not to work at all?

Sounds great! I think it would be greatly appreciated by many if you were to post the solution that you or whomever did the repair for you so that in case others encounter this problem it will be available to them.

OK, but the one touch (top right) is just a shortcut to waypoints or addresses you have entered into the unit.
Press the top left for the dashboard.
Press the bottom left for the main menu.
Press the bottom right for an options menu for whatever page you are on.

If you haven't yet I would recommend downloading the user's manual from the Magellan web site, the printed manual that comes with the unit is only a start-up guide.

These units have a bit of a learning curve but once I 'got it' they are fairly intuitive to use.

Here's a link to the Magellan site - 610 User manual page

Good luck.

The only thing I can think of that might be different from at the store and home is are you starting it properly?

You have to hold the on button down for a few seconds until "Magellan" appears on the screen, then let go of the button & wait.
It will take about 40 seconds for it to index data and come on.
I know of someone who's child repeatedly pressed the on button before it came on and the unit would not work.

My apologies if this seems a bit condescending but I can't think of anything else that may be causing your problem.
