Nope, they'll deal with it and you just get yourself another unit. If you got it on sale, exchange for one the same (to keep the sale savings price). If not, just return it and go and purchase another one. The new one will have a full year exchange warranty, rather than the balance of the year, if you exchange it.

Ok, the file can be downloaded at:

Please note the I did not include the MAP directory so please do not delete it from your unit!!! Other than that, everything else should be included.

I just wonder if it's just the sensor or the software on the unit. Hard to believe the number of units out there that are having the problem. One guy got 3 before it worked. Wish Magellan could determine the issue or even a program to determine what is not funtioning. Wish there was a way to compare my software on my unit with someone's that works. Shouldn't be a problem to return it to Candian Tire where I purchased it.

Everything on my 610 appears to work fine minus the barometer. I have reloaded the firmware several times and reset the unit to no avail. Just have a flat line, asystole, dead... I have seen a working barometer and you have the green bars with the rise and fall. I don't get that. I live at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Should have significant changes in pressure. Yes the sensor is turned on.
Having heard horror stories about sending unit in for service makes me apprehensive. I guess I could try and return it to the store then I might get a real lemon. Oh well I will figure it out.
Unless there Is a way to confirm my firmware is good. Is there some way anyone could send me their firmware that has a functioning barometer?

Never registered anything ..... Can you explain ? Did the bar graph not indicate any change, or there's no data to view ?
There is the chance that barometric pressure didn't change over the 7 hours, it is a weather phenomenon after all... On your ride were you making any major altitude changes (hills) ? if you were on generally flat terrain there might not be a change registered.
I don't want to sound like a moron with my question/comment, it is a legitimate possibility ....

Some things that comes to my mind.
1) Did you set the barometer it for ON.
2) Cold solder connection to the PCB.
3) Sensor failed
4) .. If #1 is not the answer then return it to Magellan under the warranty.
5) However, before you do #4 .. reload the firmware and hopefully that will solve the problem.

Just wondering. Anyone know if they figured out the issue regarding the barometer on the Explorist 610? I called tech support and the guy was not helpful at all. Seemed like he wanted to get me off the phone as quick as he could. The guy told me it had to be on for awhile and go for a long hike. I had it attached to my atv and it never registered anything over the 7 hours of riding. Anyone?
