Apparently your Triton 200 has some corrupt files in the internal memory.  One such program is the mgnshell program.  There are many ways to corrupt this program but essentially the symptoms are telling you that Memory Management of the 200 is bad.

In the section above this one is a group for the Triton on how to repair this situation.  You will find the DUMP file for the Triton 200 and a method to attempt to repair this situation.

We offer you a few words of caution.  When you erase the contents of the unit (aka erase all files) review the directory on your virtual drive and make sure that the /APP subdirectory is gone.

In other words all programs have been erased. If the /APP directory is not gone then you have a corrupt program still in your T200.

AT THIS POINT NEVER FORMAT THE T200.  If you are working with Windows Vista, 7 or 8 then under properties you will see a tab called "Tools".  Run tools and it will change the bad program to a new program which is erasable.

Then erase the /APP directory so that it is empty.

You can now copy the contents of the DUMP program we provided to the /MAGELLAN DIRECTORY and restart your Triton.

Good luck .. but remember that you can really BRICK YOUR UNIT if you mess up this procedure.

Hello,

I have a triton 200 that I have used for many years and n ever had a problem with it. Recently it has developed a few issues. I first noticed that the status bar at the top of the screen, where it displays the satellite signal strength, time, and battery life, has stopped working. Nothing is displayed at the top of the screen. It has also stopped connecting to my computer. I have tried erasing all way points, geocaches, and tracks but that did not help. I have tried to do a factory reset from the menu but each time I try it just freezes up and won’t do anything. I believe that all of these issues are related because they all started happening at the same time. About 2 weeks before all of this happened I made some maps with the TritonRMP program and put them on the gps. I have made maps with this program before and used them many times on the gps with out incident. Any thoughts on what is happening and how I can fix itwould greatly be appreciated. Thanks!
