Magellan Triton 2000 Repair Kit .. Do It Yourself
Many customers contact us and ask if we still repair the Magellan Triton 2000 GPS? Unfortunately, we have elected to cease repairing this unit. However; management has elected to release the repair software that we used to do this repair on the forum. You can download and unzip the repair software and repair the 2000 yourself.

Have followed directions carefully, created the SD card as directed by unzipping repair file and copying all files to SD card.  Inserted SD into Triton 2000, powered unit on.  Repair program initiates exactly as JG said it would.  However am unable to change to root directory of GPS on right-hand side/column.  I believe both columns are showing the same root directory (showing the SD card's directories and files).  How do I change to the GPS' root directory in the right-hand column so I can copy files from the left-hand column (SD card) to the right-column (GPS root directory).  Thanks for your help.

Syd,  Both sides of the Program Manager will show the identical file structure.  If you back up the directory of the left side it will move up and show you that it the HDD directory on the SDMMC card.  Obviously, this is the clean HDD folder with all folders like APP, MAP/DATA, my music, etc.  These are files that which to COPY to the right side.

If you back up the directory on the right side it will show up a HDD folder it will also contain folders like APP, MAP/DATA, my music, etc.  But if you click on the top bar it will show the HDD and the next higher directory level will be a "/", indicating that you are in the root of the Triton.

After reaffirming that the right side is viewing the Triton you must DELETE all FOLDERS.  Remember to follow clearly the instructions and activate on both sides of the File Manager to show you all hidden files, etc.  If you are successful you will only have one file, the UNIT file

Unfortunately this is the only assistance we can offer to you and please continue to make sure that you in the correct directories before you either erase or copy any files.

Many customers contact us and ask if we still repair the Magellan Triton 2000 GPS?

Unfortunately, we have elected to cease repairing this unit.

However; management has elected to release the repair software that we used to do this repair on the forum.

You can download and unzip the repair software.   The repair kit is contains File Management software and a DUMP of one of the Triton 2000 versions.   Just disassemble the software and place it on a 4GB SDHC memory card and insert it into the Triton with FRESH BATTERIES and start the unit.

The start up of events is first, the Magellan Splash Screen Appears, followed by a 30 - 40 second interval in which an "Hour Glass" appears on the screen.  During this time, the software is analyzing your GPS.  Upon completing the analysis, the file manager will appear.

All we can say is that the left side of the two columns is the Source Code of the SDMMC card and you must set up the directory on the right side as the GPS internal memory side which is called HDD.

Disclaimer:  This EMERGENCY RESCUE™ and REPAIR Software is Proprietary to the Gelb Organization, LLC.  If you undertake using this repair software to fix your Triton Magellan 2000 GPS we cannot guarantee the results.   You can irreparable damage your GPS.  You undertake this at your risk.  We accept no claims, liabilities or damage responsibility for your use of this software.   The software will only work on your GPS and cannot be used on any other GPS.

Please do not write us for any additional instructions as we cannot reply on this subject.

The procedure to be used is to copy the good clean files from the SDHC card (called SDMMC) to the bad corrupt files on the GPS which is the HDD side.

After we have set the GPS /HDD directory on the right side, we use the File Manager to delete all files on the right side.  Note here that the unit id file cannot be erased.

Then you must copy the clean directories and file from the left SOURCE files in directory /HDD to the right side, hence reloading the GPS with clean files.

Lets do go over this one more time.  The Bad Corrupt File on the GPS are under the /HDD directory on the right side column.  The GOOD repair files are in the LEFT column SDMMC directory under the subdirectory /HDD.   Use the File Manager to copy the good /HDD directory and its files to the RIGHT SIDE.  When you get to the UNITS file just say OVERWRITE.

When you HAVE FINISHED REPAIRING YOUR GPS, you can close the file manager by depressing the box with the "X" at the top right part of the screen.
