I waited to format mine in with the unit, however, once I did I just popped it into the SD-slot on my PC with a Micro SD Adaptor and copied my maps to it and away I went...

However, I was let down that the TritonRMP maps didn't work since I have the whole High Desert mapped out with it....

So just so I understand... the x10 series will read .rmp maps from mobac, in the same format as I used to make them for the Triton ? Like, copy to microSD card and they work ?

And about the file format for the MicroSD... should I wait until the unit shows up to properly format the card, or can I just copy the maps into a specific folder now ? What should the directory tree look like for an x10 ?

Thanks for the link. I had trouble getting it to work until I read in another Triton thread from S!G, in Atlas settings Format: I needed to have Magellan (RMP). Now it works great. I made a Google hybrid its awesome.
Thanks to all who helped.

If S!Gs link doesn't work, try:

Hey Whip! - The insert function of the forum won't allow links this long, so you have to insert them manually!!!

Thanks Sockeye. I installed MOBAC and tried to figure out how to use it. I finally did a search on Google and found a tutorial on how to make maps for a Garmin. No problem now!!! One program does the whole thing!!! Great!! Thanks again, Don

Have a look at MOBAC. The usage is really easy and the created RMP maps 100% compatible.

So I guess I'll have to learn another program. Wow, I was just getting to make halfway decent satellite maps for my T500. Well it's half the fun getting a new GPS!! I love my T500 so I kept it and traded in my 10 year old Magellan 2000XL for the new ex610. Waiting for delivery!!! Thanks, Don

I've been using Mobile Atlas Creator with much success on my new 610. My other unit - an Oregon 450 - is crippled by Garmin with an arbitrary limitation of 100 map tiles. With the 610, I've been able to download some very nice (and LARGE) 24K topos from mytopo.com as well as some really sharp satellite images (better than Garmin's BirdsEye) from Google Earth - great for Geocaching.

Can I still use Gmapmaker and RPM Maker like I use for the Magellan Triton 500? Thanks, Don

Yes.

But not all tools generate the correct format.

Is the ex610 compatable with RPM maps?
