Phild31,
I did that. Unfortunately, because the Magellan Drivers are actually installed in Ubuntu, it doesn't work. So, I will have to settle with the upload to drive option. Which really works almost as smoothly in GSAK.

Caotix,

Yes, I am using it in WINE. And it works great. I have no complaints about it. Now, I just need to pay for the upgrade that I have been avoiding for year.

Cool :woohoo: I have to try if I get it to work running openSUSE

So, I finally got to messing around a bit with my eX710 and GSAK on Linux.

Unfortunately, GSAK 7.7.2.53 doesn't recognize the eX710, when you try to transfer directly from GSAK to the GPS. It just give you the error telling you to connect to PC.

However, because Ubuntu recognizes the eX710 as a drive. You can export your GSAK database directly to the unit, and it is essentially the same thing as a direct install of the caches.

Yeah, I am getting closer to going straight Linux in my life. :cheer:

Are you still using GSAK with wine? I couldn't get it to work. That's why I use VirutualBox which gives me USB-Support. But if you can do it with wine, I would like to give it a nother try.

Update to GSAK 7.7.3.53 then set up GPS for the 710.

When in trouble or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout

I have been using GSAK with Ubuntu since 10.04. Still working with 11.04. I use WINE to get it to work, and I don't believe I have had too many problems. I haven't used it in a while, because it wasn't compatible with my Triton. But now that I have a eX710, I can't wait to try it.
