For the geocachers out there, Google has started charging for every use of Google Maps on GC.com.
So Groundspeak no longer has Google Maps on their site, it would cost a fortune!
That's why the maps on the cache pages have changed.
If you are used to using Google Maps for geocaching the best option is a macro for GSAK that will show every cache in a database on Google Earth.
I just tried it with every cache in Massachusetts (over 10,000) and it loaded in 8 seconds!
It works perfectly and you can set it up to show child waypoints, like parking, that are marked as attached to the correct cache.
There are many more options for this macro, I just loaded it so I haven't explored all the options yet but it is well worth getting.
The choices of maps are;
Google Earth
Satellite
OSM (Open Street Map)
OCM (Open Cycle Map)
HikeBike
MyTopo
MapQuest
Bing
Ordnance Survey
Here's a link to the macro - Google_Map_V3.gsk
BTW, macros are free apps for GSAK.
GSAK costs $30, a one time price for the program.
When in trouble or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout
