RB,
Appears that the internal battery that backs up the Static RAM on the GC is depleted.
This is a bad part in some Magellan GC and 310 units.
Just for the heck of it .. put in 2 new AA batteries and leave the unit alone for 24 hours.
Hopefully the internal battery will do some charging.
If nothing helps .. call Magellan and tell them your circumstances.

Getting ready to take the kids camping and ran into this problem. We have a Magellan GC that has been used less than 6 hours and has been stored in ideal conditions. We have not used it for a year and a half, and went to turn it on today. Nothing. New batteries inserted...nothing. Plugged into the USB with the new batteries...nothing. Tried holding the up position on joystick+menu button+power button...nothing. Tried this procedure again taking the batteries out and leaving the USB in...nada. HELP!
