Did you show your friend with the 610 how to reset the GPSr to show results when he does the "Next Nearest" routine?

Yes, they could not believe it. They said it had never worked since the feature was added.

Yes - I have noticed that as well. It becomes confusing when you perform a function from a different screen and you get a different result, or you go through a differnt process.

Did you show your friend with the 610 how to reset the GPSr to show results when he does the "Next Nearest" routine?

When a cache is marked as Found, Not Found etc from the Cache Description page without first using GoTo. The message “Find Next Nearest Geocache” does not appear after the message “Enter Comments?”. This is yet another case where the message is not received when one would logically expect to receive it.

Another example (describes in another thread) is after using GoTo and then marking the cache as Not Found and the message does not appear.

I was speaking with a 610 owner the other day that is not on the forum and I asked them about their experience with “Find Next Nearest Geocache”. After the grumble they said either the message falls to appear when they expect it or if it does appear it either returns nothing or an incorrect cache list.

The failure of the message to appear when it logically should or a corrupt result (cause identified) is what has given a good function such a bad name.

The message “Find Next Nearest Geocache” should appear irrespective of where a cache is marked as Found, Not Found etc. Basically whenever the “Enter Comments?” message is displayed the “Find Next Nearest Geocache” message should follow.

Graham.
