okay, so it seems that SDHC works, even though the Magellan site specifies Micro SD as the expandable memory format. thanks.

in a note to magellan support, here was my question...

New Ticket: SDHC compatibility

is the explorist 710 SDHC compatible? users have reported success, but the manual specifies micro SD, not micro SDHC. so, what's the official word?

and here was their response...

The eXplorist 510,610 and 710 are designed to read up to 32GB Micro SD cards. Those in the above 4GB SD cards are mainly SDHC types already on all sizes from standard SD size to micro SD sizes.

Not exactly a clear response  ...but I think we're okay with SDHC B) even up to 32 gigs :woohoo:

This is what I'm using. On sale last week, Black Friday, for $7.99.
