You know granted these GPS units are water proof and rugged and all, but, for the money people are dropping on these things you would think they would come with a case of some sort, even if it was a cheap one.

The $80 digital camera I bought at Walmart last week came with a thin neoprene zip case that has a carabiner on it. They could throw a two dollar lanyard in the box for that matter as well. Total cost would probably work out to thirty five cents to make in China. Just saying you know.

I bought this case at Best Buy for $11:

http://products.lowepro.com/pr.....260,25.htm

It has a pocket for batteries etc., and a stiff back that I keep the screen toward for protection. It fits perfectly and the colors match the 710 for the fashion conscious. B)

AHH ! That feels good, so far it's the only real complaint I have with my 710. 😛

Hook and loop. My favorite. Home Depot. :silly:

Wow, $15 for THAT?
It looks like a wrist lanyard.
And the cases are pretty poor also.
It took this long to come out with this junk?

They offer a street names + topo maps for all of Canada on a 4gb micro SDHC card for $89.99 for the explorist x10 series.

Here's a link;

Accessories?!!! I am still waiting on a Canadian edition of the 610! You guys have nothing to moan about. Any one have ANY word on it?

I wrote Magellan and got "Specific release date has not yet been announced yet for that version. However, you can be notified through your email by subscribing from the website. Through this we can notify you of the official release of the new Explorist Series". Hoped for Christmas.....maybe the New Year.

Before you spend $20 bucks for a case like that check out the thread 'Carry Case' I started a couple of weeks ago.

The case I found - $14
http://www.gpsoutfitters.com/bag.htm

And the case Sarge104 found - $10
http://www.amazon.com/Lowepro-.....B000BH1GFK

They are both much better than the Maggie case, extra pocket for batteries, pen, SD card, knife, etc.
Plus multiple ways to carry & shoulder strap.

For now I'm using a 'Lobster Mount' I modified for my old XL.

An alternative to the non-existent Maggie mount might be this; http://www.ram-mount.com/NewPr.....fault.aspx

Jepp. Me too.

But driving around the vibrations turn the screw and it and I already broke it, thinking it was loose.

But for the x10 this could be done with an integrated USB connector and I presume the angled conntection was designed exactly for an easy push or pull into/from a mount.

well, I definetely need:

- a lanyard with a easy to use clip to attach it to the handle/bar.

- a car / boat mount with a quick attach / detach mechanism. This was not solved convenient for the Tritons as you need to attach and remove the power supply additionally.

- a solid bicycle mount, whis is capapable of holding the unit tight even when mountain biking.

This is the car mount for the Triton 2000 I have been using for years.
Just snaps in, the cable stays in the mount.

The way the cable plugs into the 710 (at an angle) I have not found a mount for it unless the bottom of the unit hangs out of the mount.

I'm curious how Maggie is going to design a mount for it that will fit the cable/plug.

I think it's more than squeaking - here is my eX710 with its case, which I was told today - while visiting our Magellan Reps. Justin and Eric - will be available this month and the new mounts for both the eX-series and the GC series should be available on the website before the end of January... If you can think of any other accessories that would be cool for these units, please speak up - Magellan is listing and they are working on other accessories...

I'm headed to Magellan in the morning, so while I'm there I'll try to remember to ask about the mounts. I do know they've been working on them, but I've also noticed that the design between the eX-Series and the GC are different. Where the actual lacking mechanism that locks the unit into the mount is in a different place, so maybe that has something to do with it, but I'll ask...

Maybe next November?

I'm getting tired of using a Mickey Mouse home made mounting set-up in my truck for a $500 unit! 🙁

Can I trade in my mounts for the Triton, eXploristXL and Meridian for a 710 mount?

Same with me.
